Martin Stanley - Luthier
Martin Stanley is a double bass maker located in Sydney NSW Australia. He started making instruments in 2019 under the guidance and mentorship of Master Luthier Matthew Tucker at Bresque Basses in Marrickville Sydney.
Although Martin set up his own studio workshop in 2022, he enjoys the creative collaboration of the Bresque Bass workshop where he is in contact with many musicians from across Australia.
He specialises in handcrafted basses using high quality locally sourced timbers.

This orchestral instrument is a big one, but extremely responsive and a joy to play. The low strings speak quickly and easily, producing a rich and complex voice that shakes the floor very nicely indeed.
- It has a Sitka Spruce top and flamed Walnut back and sides, with a striking dark walnut dart in the back
- Mahogany scroll
- Responsive Bracing System designed by Matthew Tucker
- String length is 41.5" (1054mm)
- Rubner tuners
- D Neck
- The generous 7/8 model was designed by US luthier Joey Naeger.
- ff-holes and scroll are the maker's own design

- Bass bar is modelled on a concept by Mario LaMarre

Due for completion in the 3Q'2024 this 3/4 model will be made using South American Cedar and Tasmanian Blackwood for the back and ribs, with a Sitka Spruce top. Key features will include:
